Herman Miller® introduced the Eames® Aluminum Group in 1958 as Charles and Ray Eames' response to the need for high-quality indoor-outdoor furniture. It soon moved inside exclusively. This year, Herman Miller® celebrates the chair that 50 years ago came in from the cold. The Side chair is constructed with a one-piece, curved aluminum frame and an aluminum swivel base. Eames® Aluminum Group is also available in lounge chair & ottoman, executive and management chair versions. We offer the Eames® Aluminum Group Side Chair in a choice of select leathers, including Edelman® leathers.

The Aluminum Group initially was designed for Irwin Miller, founder of Cummins Engines. Eero Saarinen and Alexander Girard designed the Miller’s home and challenged Charles and Ray Eames to develop a high-quality seating product for outdoor use.
