Herman Miller® introduced the Eames® Aluminum Group in 1958 as Charles and Ray Eames' response to the need for high-quality indoor-outdoor furniture. It soon moved inside exclusively. In 2008, Herman Miller celebrates the chair that 50 years ago came in from the cold. The lounge chair and ottoman are each constructed with a one-piece, curved aluminum frame and an aluminum base with choice of upholstery. Available in a swivel version and a tilt/swivel version chair; headrest (in complimenting fabric) available with the tilt/swivel version chair only. The Eames® Aluminum Group also includes management, side and executive chair versions. We offer the Eames® Aluminum Group Lounge Chair and Ottoman in a choice of select leathers, including Edelman® leathers.

The Aluminum Group initially was designed for Irwin Miller, founder of Cummins Engines. Eero Saarinen and Alexander Girard designed the Miller’s home and challenged Charles and Ray Eames to develop a high-quality seating product for outdoor use.
